A big hello to all the m2M Cycling community members. Thanks so much for signing up to our humble little venture. We're at the very early days of things so please bear with us. New things are on the horizon all the time so if you experience something you're not sure about or unhappy with then please lets us know. (positive feedback is appreciated, also! 😉)
With temperatures heading in the wrong direction I'm thinking about bringing out an Autumn /Winter cycling top that will be of high quality and provides superb value for money.
In my experience, the cheap cycling clobber starts to lose it's shape, padding and falls apart after half a dozen washes. Whereas the more expensive stuff might be just that... Too expensive for beginners to want to take the plunge with.
Before I potentially risk wasting money (I don't have) on something (people don't want) I thought I'd ask the good people on m2M Cycling for your opinion on something:
1) Do you like this design?
2) If the quality was similar to Castelli, what do you think and /or feel when hearing "£84.99" as a potential price tag? (Too high? Too low? About right? Sounds excellent if the quality matches Castelli?)
If you could leave any feedback in the comments it would be HUGELY appreciated. And please don't worry about causing any offence. I can't afford for an ego to get in the way of constructive feedback so candour would be sincerely welcomed.
Cheers.
Ben.
Haha. We talk about 'cycling widows' in our book. You need to get friendly with your bike shop and always ensure you ask for the receipt and the 'RECEIPT'. The first one ensures you're covered for the true value of your purchase. The 'RECEIPT' (nudge nudge wink wink) is the one you show your partner.
Usually says something like "One new bike. £10.99" 😉 😂
Thanks, buddy. Yeah. There are large reflector strips on the back. The price vs. Quality is an ongoing consideration. Cheers.
So for me, there’s a couple of factors.
As mentioned in my earlier posts I tend to ride alone - so my jerseys are high vis (currently day glo orange with reflective trim). For me to consider the journey it would need to have at least some reflective elements if it wasn’t a super bright colour. (Part of the reason I stopped cycling for so long was a couple of accidents where despite high vis clothing and lights drivers didn’t see me). On this point I am aware I am probably in a minority, but this is just my perspective on cycling apparel.
Secondly (and this may be more common) any purchase I would have to get past my wife. As such I wouldn’t get away with £85 on a jersey. Maybe half of that, but then that probably relies on economy of scale from the manufacturing side making it difficult for you to get something at that price point….
Always happy to help.. And if you need a 'model' I'd happily take a few pics.. my fees are very reasonable! #DontAskDontGet
Thanks so much, Ben. Yeah - it's a fine line with the price point isn't it. I've got some samples being delivered in the next couple of weeks so I'll be testing the quality for myself. I'm also conscious of 'value' vs. 'price'. Too cheap and people will think it's just that. Too expensive and you're 100% right - they'll think I'm having a laugh if a start-up brand is pitching itself in the same price bracket as Rapha!!! Thanks for your feedback though. Always super-appreciated
Cheers.
Ben.
Hi Ben
Go on admit it, since you were a small boy you have harboured the desire to have your own clothing range right!?!? This cycling lark is just a cover story!!
Designwise.. I really like it! I'd definitely wear it!
Price... Hmm.. honestly, the current price tag would put me off.. IF you are aiming it at newbies to cycling, i wonder if they would part with this amount of money for a jersey (and would they even understand what Castelli quality looks/feels like?)... When i say 'they' i clearly mean me.. So sample group of one, would say, I'd be up for buying M2M products, but the price point would be need to be lower for me to purchase.
(Note: I'm a marketer, so am thinking about your target audience and propensity to purchase.. Happy to chat further if you want!)
Ben
